Destiny

 All she wanted was love, 

That was all he took away. 

In his wake, what he left behind, 

Was less than who she was before. 


Her drive and energy waning, 

She tried so hard to hold on. 

Hoping for a miracle, 

That never came. 


Lives around her seemed to float, 

And she watched them from up above, 

Dreamily, wondering, where had she gone wrong. 


She could walk away, she thought, 

If only these invisible chains crack. 

But her mind was strong yet soft, 

That held them in place. 


The elephant, with its leg in a rope, 

The circus driving its frame.

Move, you bad animal, 

She whispered, 

Run away.


The creature, with moist eyes, 

Blinked and stayed.

My master loves me. 

And this is my destiny.
